Who was the book of Galatians written to and what were they being pressured to do?

Galatians was written to Gentile believers who were besieged by Judaizers. These false teachers pressured them to believe that faith in the Gospel alone was insufficient, insisting they also embrace Judaism, practice circumcision, and keep the Law. Paul wrote to refute that error and establish that believers are under Grace, not Law.

Les explains that Galatians was written to Gentile believers who were being besieged by Judaizers. The Judaizers claimed that these believers could not be saved by faith in the Gospel alone; they also had to embrace Judaism, practice circumcision, and keep the Law. Paul therefore writes this little letter to refute all that and straighten them out. Les summarizes the theme as: "You're not under Law, you're under Grace." He then points to Galatians 3:13, where Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us, so that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ.
