How did Israel go from the tabernacle to Solomon's Temple?
God gave Moses instructions for a movable tabernacle, which Israel built in the Sinai wilderness. When the Shekinah glory lifted, they dismantled it and followed. After forty years they carried it into the Promised Land, where it remained a temporary tent north of Jerusalem until God permitted David and Solomon to build the permanent Temple.
Les explains that the giving of the Law included rituals, regulations, civil law, and priesthood stipulations, and God gave Moses instructions for building the tabernacle. Israel completed it in the wilderness of Sinai. When the tabernacle was finished and the Shekinah glory came down, every time the glory lifted and moved, they took down the tabernacle and followed it. They carried it through the forty years of wilderness into the Promised Land. For years it sat as a temporary little tent north of Jerusalem, until God gave David, and then through his son Solomon, permission to build a permanent dwelling place for their God, which was Solomon's Temple. Les ties this to the Law given to Israel, not the Gentiles, though it covered the whole human race.
