What did Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection complete?
Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection completed all that had to be done. The seven signs in John's Gospel took place before that finished work. The eighth sign, which follows, is the sign of new beginnings.
Les explains that in John's Gospel there are eight signs, and all eight are miracles. Seven of those signs took place before Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, which completed all that had to be done. Then in the last chapter of John, the eighth sign and miracle appears: the sign of new beginnings. So the completed work is tied to what had to be done, and the eighth sign points to new beginnings afterward.
