What was the purpose of God bringing Israel out of Egypt?

God brought Israel out of Egypt to bring them to Himself, to begin working with that nation, and to prepare them for the coming of the Messiah. This fulfilled His promise to Jacob to make a nation from him and the twelve sons.

Les teaches that after about 500 years, God called Moses and told him to go to Pharaoh and lead His people—descended from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the 12 sons—out of Egypt. God said He would bring them to Himself, start working with that little nation, and prepare them for the coming of the Messiah. Les says that was really the whole purpose of bringing the nation out of Egypt. It also fulfilled what Genesis said: when Jacob went down into Egypt, God promised to make of Jacob and those 12 sons a nation of people, and the Jewish nation came from those 12 sons.
