Les Feldick Bible Study

Why don't Christians have to mind being meek or suffering persecution?

Christians need not resent meekness, quietness, or persecution because their outcome is secure in eternity. Though led like sheep to the slaughter, Scripture calls them conquerors, more than conquerors through the One who loved them. Nothing can separate them from spending eternity with their Creator God, so they can endure without complaint.

Les teaches that this book looks at everything in the light of eternity, so believers take the blessed assurance that regardless of what may happen, nothing can separate them from spending eternity with their Creator God. The analogy is sheep going quietly down an alley to their death, yet the next verse says they are conquerors. Therefore they do not have to mind being meek, quiet, or coming under persecution, and can endure without squealing like a hog, because in the end they are still more than conquerors through the One who loved them. Paul says he was persuaded, totally convinced, though Agrippa only said, “Almost, you have persuaded me.” Human effort in the flesh can do nothing.

Romans 8:37

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
