What should we never lose sight of while we are waiting patiently?
While waiting patiently, never lose sight of the certainty that it is going to happen: Christ is going to return. Fulfillment is not a matter of if but when, and the expectation is that it is getting sooner every day. Patience rests on this assured hope, not visible proof.
Les explains that faith and hope are intertwined: if a person sees something, there is no need to hope for it. He teaches that anticipation is more exciting than realization. With God, time does not mean that much; He is not concerned whether He brings everything to fruition tomorrow, ten years from now, or one hundred years from now. Since we cannot push God to do it faster, we wait patiently. In that patience, we must never lose sight of the fact that it is going to happen—Christ is going to return, and it feels sooner every day. The Holy Spirit, who indwells believers according to Paul’s teaching, also helps our infirmities and weaknesses, because we deal with the invisible realm of the Spirit.
