How was the apostle Paul saved?

The apostle Paul was saved by grace when the ascended, glorified Lord stopped him on the road to Damascus. Though he was a religious renegade Jew, Christ saved him by grace, then took him out into the desert and revealed to him the Gospel that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

Les teaches that Paul was not saved by his religious standing. On the road to Damascus, the ascended, glorified Lord—not Jesus of Nazareth in His earthly ministry, but the crucified, buried, and resurrected Lord from heaven—stopped that renegade Jew and saved him by grace. He then took Paul out into the desert and revealed to him the Gospel: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Les explains this was all pre-planned before creation, and the Gospel Paul received is the same Gospel by which believers are saved, if they believe not in vain.
