What does 'quicken' mean in Romans 8:11?

In Romans 8:11, 'quicken' means to make alive. Paul writes that the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead will also quicken, or make alive, believers' mortal bodies by His Spirit dwelling in them. That same power will raise them from the fallen position Adam caused.

Les explains that in Romans 8:11 the word 'quicken' means to make alive. The verse says that if the Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then He who raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken, or make alive, your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you. Les ties this to the Trinity: God the Father used the power of the Holy Spirit to raise the Son, and that same Spirit is life, eternal life because of righteousness. The same power that raised Christ will raise believers from the position Adam made us fall into. Les also points to Ephesians chapter 2 as a cross reference with almost the same identical language.
