What happened during the revival at Yale University?

At Yale University, a campus revival saw many students experiencing salvation. A benevolent young woman who showed no interest refused invitations to meetings; when told God loved her and wanted to save her, she angrily stamped her foot and said that she hated God.

Les explains that he read a footnote in a Bible teacher's book about a great revival on the campus of Yale University. Many students were experiencing salvation, and a real revival was taking place. One young lady was remarkably benevolent, helping anyone under any circumstance and being everybody's friend, yet she had shown no interest in salvation. Some girls who had found salvation in the revival talked with her and invited her to the meetings, but she would not respond. Finally, in desperation, one girl said, "Please come because God loves you. He wants to save you." Her temper flared, and she stamped her pretty little foot and said she hated God. Les treats this as the perfect example of what we are often up against: people can keep old Adam under control, but when he is prodded, he comes out. They can put on a good veneer, but when confronted with the demands of a loving God, they show their true colors. The lost person, whether he realizes it or not, is an enemy of God, not subject to the law of God and unable to please Him.
