What becomes the believer's guideline for living according to Romans 8?

The Holy Spirit becomes the believer's guideline for living. Romans 8 contrasts walking after the flesh with walking after the Spirit, and the Spirit directs the saved person's new lifestyle, appetites, and thought process, enabling God's love to fulfill the law's righteous requirement.

Les explains that believers walk not after the flesh or old Adam, but after the Spirit, and the Spirit becomes their guideline for living. This reflects true salvation: a change in lifestyle, appetites, and the whole thought process, because the believer is now under the control of the Spirit of God rather than the world, the flesh, and the devil. Les also connects this to Romans 13:8-10, where the God-given love operating in the believer fulfills the Law, and to Romans 8:4, where the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in those who walk after the Spirit.
