How should believers do everything in word and deed?

Scripture instructs believers to do everything in word and deed unto Him. Since Christ becomes everything, believers live and move in Him, not relying on any personal ability or merit, for nothing in us can earn God's favor. It is all of His grace.

Les explains that Colossians asks, "Whatsoever you do in word or deed," and the answer is to do it all unto Him. He emphasizes that Christ becomes everything, and that is where we live and move. Les stresses that there is nothing in us that can merit any favor with God; it is all of His grace. He reminds that grace could never have happened without mercy, but since God poured out His mercy on Christ at the cross, we no longer have to cry for mercy. Now God can give grace—unmerited favor—which we do not deserve.

Colossians 3:17

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
