What does God want believers to rest in after they realize He has called, elected, justified, and glorified them?

God wants believers to rest in the assurance that He is for them, so no one can be against them or condemn them. This confidence rests on the fact that God did not spare His own Son but gave Him up, and Jesus obediently submitted to death.

Les teaches that Romans 8:31 is paramount to the Christian experience. After believers recognize they have been called, elected, justified, and glorified in God's eyes, the question is, "What shall we say then to these things?" The answer is: if God is for us, who can be against us? That is where God wants us to rest. There is no one who can condemn us, because God did not spare His Son but let Him be crucified, mishandled, and misused by the powers of that time, and He gave Him up. As Philippians shows, the Lord Jesus was obedient unto that kind of death. Like Isaac of old, who did not struggle or fight back but in complete obedience let Abraham lay him on the altar, this was a preview of Christ's obedience.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

What conclusion should believers draw from God being for them?

When all these things are true for us, the conclusion is 'if God is for us, who is against us?', and God wants us to rest in that conclusion.
