Les Feldick Bible Study

Why do people commit suicide?

People commit suicide because they see death as the easiest way out; they cannot cope with their problems and circumstances, so they take their own life, believing it ends everything for this life. Life is difficult, filled with heartache, turmoil, and opposition, making death seem easy by comparison.

Les explains that death is the easy way out, and that is why there are so many suicides. People think it is their easiest escape because they cannot cope with their problems or circumstances, so they take their life, and that ends it as far as this life is concerned. But then he asks, what about life? We live in a world filled with heartache and turmoil, and with opposition to the home and family. Life is difficult, not easy. He even mentions reading a book that he almost had to quit because it kept pointing out all the things that make life difficult—people's heartache and sorrows. So death is easy by comparison, but even all the difficulties of life, Paul says, will never separate us.
