How can every person have the opportunity of choice if God has already chosen people?
Every person has opportunity of choice because the constant invitation “whosoever will may come” stands alongside God's election; the two are not to be pitted against each other. A person cannot choose unless God calls and elects them, so both truths are believed together rather than fully reconciled.
Les explains that as the human race moves down the river of time, there is a constant invitation to enter the door that says, “whosoever will may come.” On the other side of that door is the truth “chosen from before the foundations of the world.” He acknowledges these sound contradictory: whosoever will may come versus being chosen by an act of God. He cites a Bible scholar who said if this is what God says, believe it, do not argue or try to reconcile it, and leave it with God to settle what we think is the great controversy. Theologians still argue. Les says don't lose sight of either; being too taken by either puts you in left field. He reconciles both together: every individual has that opportunity of choice, but they cannot choose unless God calls and elects them.
