What question should you ask about any miracle you witness?

When you witness a miracle, ask whether it came through the keeping of the Law or through the manifestation of the Spirit activated by faith. The consistent answer is that it is not by works of the Law but by the hearing of faith, grace plus nothing.

Les explains that miracles among the Galatians came by the hearing of faith, not by the works of the Law. He notes that they could not perform any miracles under the working of the Law; it was impossible. But when the Holy Spirit activated the hearts and minds of pagan Galatians, they experienced a miraculous transformation from idolatry and immorality into a new lifestyle. Les says that is miracle enough in itself, and though other manifestations existed in the early church, Paul does not explicitly delineate them. The same question still applies: if you have witnessed a miracle, was it through the keeping of the Law or through the manifestation of the Spirit who was activated by faith? The answer is grace through faith plus nothing.

Galatians 3:5

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
