Was a miracle you witnessed done through the Law or through faith?
Any miracle witnessed is through the manifestation of the Spirit activated by faith, not through the works of the Law. The Law could not perform miracles; it was impossible. The Spirit works miracles by the hearing of faith, and this comes by grace through faith plus nothing.
Les explains that the Law cannot produce miracles; it was impossible for them to perform any miracles under the working of the Law. The miracle the Galatians experienced was the Holy Spirit activating their hearts and minds, transforming them from paganism, idolatry, and immorality into a whole new lifestyle. Les says that is miracle enough, and while the early church had other manifestations of the miraculous, Paul does not explicitly delineate them. The question remains: if you witnessed a miracle, was it through keeping the Law or through the manifestation of the Spirit activated by faith? The answer is faith, plus nothing. Les emphasizes we are not under Law but under grace, and we come under grace and out from under the Law by faith plus nothing. This is the theme of Galatians: don't be suckered into a works religion; maintain salvation by grace through faith plus nothing.
He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
