Why should Christians be eager to talk about their salvation?
Christians should be eager to talk about salvation because it is the good thing God has done on their behalf. Just as people gladly brag about a favorite car, believers should be ready to speak of spiritual things at the drop of a hat, as easily as the weather, confessing with the mouth what God has promised.
Les explains that confession is made with the mouth unto salvation, yet a person does not have to tell someone before being saved. The point is that when you have experienced something good, you naturally want to talk about it. He compares it to high school bragging rights about a car: if your car could go faster, you talked about it. Salvation should be the same—believers should be ready to talk about it at the drop of a hat, as easily as the weather, and speak of the spiritual things God has done on their behalf. The assurance is that Christ did everything on their behalf; they have done nothing and are undeserving, yet they know they are going to heaven because of God's promises. The culmination is calling upon the name of the Lord, and whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved. Les also uses the illustration of a swimming pool on a hot summer day: amid all the kids yelling and screaming, the lifeguard hears the kid in trouble, and God is the same way.
