How should we approach Jesus now that He is risen?
Now that Jesus is risen, we approach Him as Lord—the Lord Jesus Christ—not merely the Jesus of His earthly ministry. We should verbally confess Him with our mouth as Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, calling on Him audibly for salvation.
Les explains that we must go beyond the Jesus of His earthly ministry, because He had not yet died then. Once He finished the work of the cross and the power of the resurrection, He becomes Lord of our life—not just Jesus, but Jesus Christ the Lord, or the Lord Jesus Christ. Les says it is only proper to approach Him on those terms. So we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead. Believing is an attitude of the heart, not something done with hands or feet. He also emphasizes verbalizing salvation out loud, not just assuming God reads your heart, saying, "Lord, I want you to save me. I believe that what you've done, you've done on my behalf." The promise is that if you believe Christ died, was buried, and rose again, thou shalt be saved.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
