Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the natural mindset of an unsaved person?

The unsaved person’s natural mindset is set on the flesh, or old Adam. Being in spiritual darkness and blinded by the god of this world, they cannot believe; their concern is only the things of this world, with fleshly appetites, materialism, and no concept of the Spirit.

Les explains that Paul contrasts the lost individual with the saved individual. Those who are after the flesh—flesh being the same as sin, old Adam—mind the things of old Adam. The unsaved person is in spiritual darkness, blinded by the God of this world so that they cannot believe. Naturally, their only concern is the things of this world; they have fleshly appetites, fleshly vision, materialism, and no concept of the Spirit. Conversely, those who live after the Spirit mind the things of the Spirit.
