How is the righteousness of the Law fulfilled in believers?

The righteousness of the Law is fulfilled in believers through their position in Christ, gained by believing the Gospel. They are not under the Mosaic Law but under grace, and the Law's perfect, holy, righteous requirement is fulfilled in them as those who have experienced salvation in Christ.

Les explains that the book of Galatians proves Gentile believers were not under the Mosaic Law but under grace, because the Law was weak and beggarly. He notes Paul's horror that believers would want to return to it after tasting grace. Then in Romans 8, Les shows that the Law as God first gave it was perfect, holy, and righteous. That righteousness is fulfilled in believers who have that position in Christ, gained by believing the Gospel, and who have experienced salvation.

Romans 8:4

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
