Why is every person under condemnation?

Every person is under condemnation because all are born into Adam’s race as sinners and have sinned, falling short of God’s glory. Scripture says condemnation rests on every son of Adam; whoever does not have the Son already has condemnation resting on him.

Les teaches that condemnation rests upon every son of Adam because we are born sinners in the Adamic race, and the previous chapters of Romans have shown that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. In John’s Gospel, Jesus said that he who has the Son has life, but he who does not have the Son has not life, and condemnation is already resting on him. So every person stands under condemnation by birth and by sin. Romans 8 then declares, “There is therefore now no condemnation,” and Les asks what made the difference: the Gospel.
