How does the law of Christ relate to the Ten Commandments?
The law of Christ never contradicts the Ten Commandments; it does not fly in their face. Yet it is more than the Ten Commandments. It is the complete liberty believers have in Christ, not legalism or the yoke of bondage. Grace requires believing the gospel and letting God do what needs to be done.
Les teaches that in verse 25, serving the law of God with the mind is not necessarily the Ten Commandments, but all of God's principles. He points out that Paul refers to it in Galatians as the law of Christ. The law of Christ will never fly in the face of the Ten Commandments, but it is more than the Ten Commandments; it is the complete liberty we now have. Les then cites Galatians 5:1: stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. That yoke is the law, legalism, rituals, or any prescribed route. Grace says you do nothing but believe the gospel and let God do everything that needs to be done.
