What is the end result of the motions of sins that are produced by the law?
The motions of sins produced by the law work in the members of the flesh to bring forth fruit, and the end result is death. The law reveals sin and its production, but it cannot produce life; it can only work toward death. As Scripture says, the wages of old Adam is eternal death.
Les explains that when we were in the flesh, under old Adam, the motions of sins which were by the law worked in our members—in this body of flesh—to bring forth fruit, and the end result of that production was death. He says that is all it can work for. He connects this to Romans 6:23, where the wages old Adam pays, who is under control of Satan, is eternal death, whereas with God His wages are eternal life and blessings and bliss and good things. By contrast, the flip side is that we are delivered from the law and should serve in newness of spirit, not in the oldness of the letter.
