How did the law cause the motions of sins to produce death in our members?

When we were in the flesh, without spiritual life, the Law's condemnation of sinful activity worked in the body's members, bringing forth fruit unto death. The unsaved live for physical death, and their works face the Great White Throne Judgment.

Les explains Romans 7:5-6 by saying that “when we were in the flesh” means we as yet had no spiritual life. The “motions of sins” were the activity of what the Law would condemn us for. Those motions were “by the Law,” and they did work in our members, that is, the body of flesh. They worked in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. That is what the unsaved person is living for; all he lives for is the day when he dies physically, and the works of his unsaved experience will come up before him at the Great White Throne Judgment. That fruit is death.

Romans 7:5
