Les Feldick Bible Study

In Les's marriage analogy, what is the fruit produced by a husband and wife?

In the marriage analogy, the fruit produced by a husband and wife is children. Under ordinary circumstances, when a young man and a young lady come together, their dream is family and children, and those children are the fruit of that union. This parallels believers married to Christ, whose fruit is other believers.

Les explains the analogy with a fruit tree: if you plant an apple tree, you hope to receive its fruit, whether apples or whatever. In the same way, when a husband and wife, or the groom and bride, come together in the marriage relationship, under ordinary circumstances their dream is family and children, and those children are the fruit of that union. He then applies it to the believer: when we come into a marriage relationship with Christ, God looks for fruit, and the fruit of a believer married to Christ is other believers. That is where soul winning and our witness come in, winning other lost people for Christ so it becomes fruit. He adds that he does not ascribe to a pushy Christianity, but he has concern for the spiritual needs of lost people.
