What are the two outcomes of dealing with the old Adam according to Romans?

Romans presents two outcomes: salvation or the second death. Taking care of old Adam brings freedom from it, righteousness, fruit unto holiness, and everlasting life in God’s presence. Letting old Adam reign supreme results in spiritual death, separation from God, and eternal doom at the second death.

Les explains that in Romans, Paul contrasts the two ways of dealing with old Adam. A person can take care of old Adam and enter into righteousness, which is salvation, and have eternal bliss in the presence of God. Or a person can let old Adam reign supreme, pass off the scene without doing anything about it, and go to the second death. The old Adam produces fruit only to condemnation and evil, but once a person is made free from old Adam and becomes a servant of God, the fruit is unto holiness, and the end is everlasting life. That second death is spiritual death, separation from God, eternal doom at the great white throne, never again having contact with the Creator God.
