Why is there no grace/church doctrine in the four Gospels?
The four Gospels record Christ's earthly ministry while He was under the law and confined to Israel under the covenant promises. During that time God was still dealing with the nation of Israel under the law, so church doctrine and grace doctrine as understood later are not found in them. Grace as God's attribute always existed.
Les teaches that before the cross there were about 1,500 years of law, and when Christ came in His earthly ministry for those three years, He was under the law. His ministry was confined, except for two people, to the nation of Israel under the law. Therefore, as Les explains, you do not get church doctrine or grace doctrine in the four Gospels; it is not in there, because God was still dealing with the nation of Israel under the covenant promises and under the law. He qualifies that grace has always been an attribute of God. When Adam sinned in the garden, God in grace sought Adam and Eve, reconciled them to Himself, and Adam will be in heaven because his faith restored fellowship with his Creator.
