Les Feldick Bible Study

How severe and demanding was the law?

The law was severe and demanding to the extremes, leaving no room for leniency or hanky-panky. Under the true law of Moses, picking up sticks on the Sabbath resulted in death, and murder brought immediate execution without years of appeals. Israel remained under this demanding law for 1,500 years.

Les teaches that the law was severe and demanding to the extremes, with no hanky-panky allowed. He reminds people that under the true law of Moses, if someone picked up sticks on the Sabbath day, the result was death—no ifs, ands, or buts. The same applied to other great sins: if they committed murder, there was no such thing as umpteen years of appeals; they were dead and done with. Israel was under this law for 1,500 years, and Les uses this to show how demanding the law truly was.
