What does Romans 6:4 teach about our new life?

Romans 6:4 teaches that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, in the same manner we also come out of a deadness and experience a new life. This follows identification with Christ's death, where old Adam dies and is separated.

Les explains that Romans 6:4 gives the flip side of our former condition: we are no longer in that old lifestyle and now, because of God's grace and His mercy, are experiencing His love. He teaches that believers have been engulfed in the very death of Christ and must identify with it; old Adam has to die and be separated from him, just as Christ's three days and three nights signified He was really dead. Then verse 4 says that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so—in the same way, in the same manner—we also are going to come out of a deadness and experience a new life. Les also points to 2 Corinthians 5:17 as a fundamental concept for the Christian plan of salvation.

Romans 6:4

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
