How does awareness of being justified affect our behavior?
Constant awareness that God has justified a believer by the work of the cross and His shed blood—declaring them just as if they never sinned—has a psychological impact. Moving through daily life conscious of being a justified person necessarily affects behavior; if it does not, something is wrong.
Les teaches that the Scripture repeats these things because God wants us to understand justification and not be in a fog about it. The moment we believe the work of the cross, God has justified us by virtue of His shed blood and declared us just as if we never sinned. Les explains that this has a psychological impact. When we move through daily life constantly aware, from the moment we awake until we go to sleep at night, that we are a justified person, that awareness will affect our behavior. If it does not, then something is wrong. Understanding that we are declared a justified person by an act of God has to have an effect on our behavior.
