Who is the 'second man' in 1 Corinthians 15:47?
The second man is the Lord from heaven, the spiritual and heavenly Christ, contrasted with the first man Adam, who is earthy and made of the dust of the earth. Paul writes that the natural comes first, and afterward the spiritual, so the second man is not from the dust but is heavenly.
Les teaches that the second man is the Lord from heaven. He contrasts Adam, the first man, who was created from the dust of the earth and is therefore natural and earthy, with Christ, who did not come from the dust of the earth but is heavenly and spiritual. Paul makes the point that what is natural comes first, and afterward what is spiritual. Les also notes that Israel was God's earthly people with earthly promises, but when the church age comes, there is a great difference.
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
