What does 1 Corinthians 15:47 say about the first man and the second man?

First Corinthians 15:47 declares that the first man is of the earth, earthy, and identifies him as Adam. In contrast, the second man is the Lord from heaven. The verse follows Paul's contrast between the natural and the spiritual, showing the first man's earthly origin and the second man's heavenly origin.

Les explains that 1 Corinthians 15:45 first calls Adam a living soul and the last Adam a quickening spirit. Verse 46 establishes the law of Scripture: first the natural, then the spiritual. Then verse 47 says the first man is of the earth, earthy—that was Adam—while the second man is the Lord from heaven. Les points out that this presents His humanity, while John's fourth Gospel comes up with His deity. Paul agrees totally with Luke's Gospel that He was the son of man, but He never stopped being God either.
