What does justification mean in the Bible?

Justification is a judicial act of God by which a sinner is declared righteous, just as if they had never sinned. It is received through faith in the blood of Christ, not by literal drinking, and in God's spiritual chemistry the red blood of Christ makes one white as snow.

Les explains that justification is being declared by a judicial act of God, so that we are now just as if we had never sinned—like Adam before he fell, though not in the physical sense. He notes that this justification is by His blood, meaning through faith in His blood, not by drinking literal blood. Les illustrates with Dr. M. R. D. Hahn of the old radio Bible class, who said that in physical chemistry, something placed in a basin of blood comes out blood red or dark brown, but in God's chemistry, when something is placed in the blood of Christ, it comes out white as new fallen snow. Les says this is what we have to understand: in the spiritual realm, the red of Christ's blood makes us as white as snow.

Romans 5:9

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
