Who hides the truth from people, God or the god of this world?
Scripture teaches that the gospel is hidden from the lost, and 2 Corinthians 4:4 identifies the god of this world as the one who blinded their minds. While God may hide things according to His prerogative, this passage deals with the other side: the god of this world blinds unbelievers.
Les explains from 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 that if our gospel is hid, it is hid to them that are lost. He notes that at times God hides things from the human race, as when the twelve did not hear Jesus' words about His coming death and resurrection in Luke 18. But in this passage, Les says we are dealing with the other side of the coin: the god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers, and we cannot take on the world ourselves.
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
