Why do new Christians become consumed with lost people?
New Christians become consumed with the lost because salvation does not stop at their own faith; it produces a testimony and concern for lost people. God intended this, leaving believers on earth to remind the lost that it is not what they do but faith in what Christ has done.
Les teaches that salvation does not stop with the believer’s own faith. Once a person is saved, they will get busy, be a testimony, and have a concern for lost people. Les says nothing thrills him more than a new convert suddenly overwhelmed with the lost condition of family, loved ones, neighbors, or coworkers, becoming consumed with it. Les explains this is as it should be—the way God intended—and why He left believers here: to constantly remind lost people that it is not what you do or what you think you can become, but what you do in the area of faith. Do you believe it? Have you appropriated it? This flows from God making Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that by faith we are made the righteousness of God in Him, and God sees Christ instead of us.
