Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the first thing people ask when calamity or accidents strike?

When calamity or accidents strike, the first thing the human mind says is, "Where is God?" People wonder why these things are falling in on them and cannot sense His presence, and faith can easily be crushed under the circumstances.

Les teaches that even in a fast-paced culture, it is easy to lose faith when things begin to overwhelm us. We suddenly think, "Where is God? I just can't sense His presence. Why are these things falling in on me?" He says people ask that every day. When calamity strikes and accidents strike, the first thing the human mind says is, "Where is God?" Then faith can literally get crushed under the circumstances. Les points to Abraham, whose promises began in Ur when he was about 50. He didn't leave Haran until 75, didn't receive Ishmael until near 80, and when he was 100 and Sarah 90, God performed and the promises became fulfilled. Abraham had almost 50 years to sweat the promises while nothing happened, but God's wheels grind slowly yet surely, and finally after 50 years of promises, here comes the child.
