Why has the nation of Israel been under constant attack?

Les explains that the Old Testament shows evidence of how Satan has tried to thwart God's plan of redemption by destroying the people through whom the Redeemer must come. If Satan could disrupt God's plan for Israel, he would disrupt God's full plan of salvation, and so Israel has been under constant attack. Though Israel still produced the Messiah, Satan now has another goal: to disrupt God's prophetic program. If Israel should suddenly disappear, prophecy would be left hanging on a string and the book would be a lie. The whole Satanic thrust against Israel is to destroy them and wipe them off the scene so God's prophetic word cannot be fulfilled. Les connects this to why Hitler turned against them and why the nations of the world even now constantly bombard that little nation with accusations. Les also notes that this does not make the Israeli government perfect, nor the Jew today perfect; he is just as much a son of Adam as anyone else, and their government can be just as corrupt as any other, with corrupt individuals being rooted out.
