Why is Satan trying to destroy the nation of Israel?

Les explains that Satan has tried to thwart God's plan of redemption by destroying the people through whom the Redeemer must come. If Satan could disrupt God's plan for Israel, he would disrupt God's full plan of salvation, so Israel has been under constant attack. Although Satan could not stop Israel from producing the Messiah, he now has another goal: to disrupt God's prophetic program. If the nation of Israel should suddenly disappear from view, prophecy would be left hanging and the book would be a lie. The whole Satanic thrust against Israel is to destroy them and wipe them off the scene so God's prophetic word cannot be fulfilled. That is why a Hitler turned against them and why the nations of the world constantly bombard that little nation with accusations. Les also reminds listeners that this does not make the Israeli government perfect; the Jew today is not perfect and is just as much a son of Adam as anyone else, and their government is just as corrupt as any other.
