Who are the 'all families of the earth' that God said would be blessed through Abraham?

The “all families of the earth” are not merely Israel but the whole human family. Through Abraham, God’s covenant promise would extend beyond Israel to all peoples, so every human family would benefit from the promises and covenant God made with him.

Les explains from Genesis 12:1–3 that God’s promise to Abram included the words, “in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” He emphasizes that this blessing is not just for Israel; rather, the whole human family would benefit from the promises and the covenant God was making with this man, Abraham. This connects with Paul’s later reference back to Abraham in Romans 4 when teaching justification by faith, and faith alone.

Genesis 12:1
