What did Saul of Tarsus do to Christians?

Saul of Tarsus persecuted believers in Jesus, committing many of them to prison and voting to have many put to death. As a religious zealot contrary to God, he hated the name Jesus of Nazareth, believing it opposed his religion, and actively opposed those who had placed their faith in Jesus.

Les teaches that Saul of Tarsus was a religious zealot, but he was contrary to God. He literally hated the name Jesus of Nazareth because he thought it was in opposition to his religion. Therefore he persecuted those who had put their faith in Jesus. He had literally committed many of them to prison, and had even voted to have many of them put to death. Les also uses Paul on the road to Damascus as probably the most perfect picture of the grace of God in all of Scripture.
