What is the same about God clothing Adam, Isaiah, and a believer in Romans 3?
The same thing is that God clothes Adam, Isaiah, and the believer in Romans 3 with an imputed covering. In every case, it is the imputed righteousness of God, a spiritual garment that hides old Adam, received because one believes what God said.
Les explains that all three instances mean the same thing. When God clothed Adam, when He clothed Isaiah, and when He clothes a believer in Romans 3, it is the imputed righteousness of God. It is an imputed covering. Because Adam had the ability to believe what God said, the blood was shed from the sacrificial animals, and God not only covered their physical body but clothed them with a spiritual garment that hid old Adam, so he had the imputed righteousness of God. Les then points to Isaiah 61:10, where the prophet rejoices because God has clothed him with the garments of salvation, not because he had multitudes of sheep, wealth, or it better than his countrymen.
