What did God tell Adam about having children after they ate the tree?

God told Adam that despite their disobedience and coming death, he and Eve would still have children, becoming father and mother of the whole human race. This assured Adam that Eve would be the mother of all living, and he believed God by faith.

Les explains that before they ate the tree, God had told them, “The day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” After they ate, Adam still had that warning ringing in his mind and evidently thought Eve was headed for death, not knowing how soon. But Les teaches that God had evidently told Adam that in spite of their awful dilemma, he and Eve would be the propagators of a whole human race, with all beginning in Eve as the mother and Adam as the father. After the curse was explained, Adam called his wife the mother of all living. Les says this was faith—Adam took God at His Word against all the improbable odds.
