Why did God save another Jew and send him to the Gentiles?

God saved Paul because Israel, under Peter and the eleven, continued rejecting the offers and was going further away from Him. When that rejection persisted, God did what even the Jew could not understand: He saved another little Jew and told him from day one that He would send him to the Gentiles.

Les teaches that Paul comes on the scene rather late in the progressive revelations. Israel had received the law under Moses, and the prophets had pleaded with the nation to straighten up. Even after Christ's first coming fulfilled prophecy, Israel under Peter and the eleven continued to reject all the offers. When Israel seemed to be going further and further away, God did something even the Jew could not understand: He saved another little Jew and told him from day one, “I’m going to send you to the Gentiles.” Les notes this is hard for some people to swallow, and he connects it to Ephesians and the difference between law and grace.
