Why did God go to the Gentiles?
God went to the Gentiles because the Jews, as a nation, rejected Jesus as the Christ. Though thousands early on embraced Him as Messiah and Redeemer, the vast majority refused, letting the ball drop, so God turned to the Gentiles without them.
Les explains that at this point Peter is still dealing with the covenant people, the Jews, who had to recognize that Jesus was the Christ, and only Jesus. He notes that while thousands of Jews early on embraced Christ as their Messiah and Redeemer, the vast majority rejected Him. Because they let the ball drop, God went to the Gentiles without them. Les also stresses that this does not change the narrow way of salvation, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. He adds that this transition had not yet fully happened, as they were still dealing with the covenant people.
