What have self-righteous people not dealt with?
Self-righteous people have not dealt with the core problem, old Adam. They may claim they are doing their best, keeping the commandments, church membership, good family life, and giving, but these do not address the inward spiritual problem. Only the Creator can reach that hidden area of the spirit.
Les explains that when self-righteous people insist they are doing the best they can, keeping the commandments, having joined the church, being a good family man, and giving, they reveal that they have not dealt with old Adam. Old Adam is the core problem, and he is in the invisible, spiritual realm—not something you can lay on a table, examine, or open. Because old Adam is spiritual, only the Creator Himself can delve into the depths of the spirit. The law is the way God comes to such a person and says, “You’re guilty.”
