Les Feldick Bible Study

Why can even a religion you disagree with help society survive?

Even a religion one rejects can help society survive because it supplies guidelines that restrain behavior within a workable spectrum. A society requires such behavioral boundaries; without restraint, anarchy sets in, and no nation has ever lasted under anarchy, as history demonstrates.

Les explains that a secular university writer, though not writing with religious overtones, stated that unless a society is guided and controlled by religious values, it cannot last. Even a religion you and I would not agree with still has guidelines that keep people under a certain spectrum of behavior. Les emphasizes that such restraints are necessary for any society to exist. When a society falls into anarchy and no restraint, it cannot last; no nation ever has. He points to Rome as an example: despite its great military machine, Rome became so corrupt politically, economically, and morally that it defeated itself and fell. Historians have warned that America is going down the same road and will destroy itself from within.
