Was there any organized worship before the Flood?
Before the Flood there was no organized worship. The context states there was no religion of sorts, no temple worship, and no instance of idolatry prior to the Flood. Organized pagan worship began after the Flood at the Tower of Babel, when humanity gathered under Nimrod to set up a religious system.
Les explains that before the Flood there was never an instance of idolatry, no religion of sorts, no temple worship of any kind, and no organized worship. Because there was nothing to control man’s thinking, man went completely down the tube—he became corrupt and violent. After the Flood, only eight people had a knowledge of God: Noah and his wife, his three sons, and their wives. Yet within 200 years—only a generation or two—the expanding population from those eight people gathered around the Tower of Babel and was ready to embrace pagan worship. Nimrod, the first world’s totalitarian despot and a hunter of men, brought them there not merely to build a structure of clay and pitch but to set up a religion that would usurp the very throne room of heaven. That is where the beginning of all pagan idolatry lies, and that is where they began to worship in various ways. Les connects this to the New Age movement’s aim to bring the world back under the same idolatry that began at the Tower of Babel.
