Les Feldick Bible Study

Why are all people born sinners?

All people are born sinners because Adam, the man who plunged the whole human race under the curse, made every one of us a sinner by birth. His transgression affected all humanity, so every person enters the world under that curse, not merely by personal choice.

Les explains that the man who plunged the whole human race under the curse made every one of us a sinner by birth. That man is Adam, as Genesis 3:21 refers to 'unto Adam also, and to his wife.' Les points out that the word 'imputed' was a bookkeeping term in Paul's day, meaning to put to one's account. Adam was the first to experience God's imputed righteousness, even as he was the one whose sin brought the curse. God's provision of coats of skins required a blood sacrifice, showing that without shedding of blood there is no remission (Hebrews 8).
