Whose righteousness is revealed in the gospel?

The gospel reveals God's righteousness, not man's righteousness, not Israel's righteousness, and not any denomination's righteousness. This righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, and God deals with the human race on the basis of faith. As Scripture says, the just shall live by faith, not by works, religion, or ritual.

Les explains that the righteousness revealed in the gospel is not man's righteousness, not Israel's righteousness, and not some denomination's righteousness, but God's righteousness. It is revealed from faith to faith, and that is the only way God can deal with the human race—on the basis of faith. He quotes the Old Testament, possibly Amos, saying, "the just shall live by faith." Les notes that Martin Luther came to this same conclusion while cloistered in a Catholic monastery, and it became the great theme of the Reformation. Luther concluded the just shall live by faith, not by works, not by religion, not by ritual. Les warns that Christianity has come close to losing this again, getting wrapped up in works, materialism, and endless programs. He defines faith as taking God at His Word.
