In the Old Testament, who did God primarily deal with?
Throughout the Old Testament, God dealt primarily—though not exclusively—with the covenant people, the nation of Israel. They were stiff-necked and steeped in unbelief, yet God still promised to bring them back and will again deal with His national people of Israel.
Les explains that God put a great separation between Jew and Gentile, and all the way through the Old Testament He dealt primarily, not exclusively, with those covenant people, the nation of Israel. They were stiff-necked and steeped in unbelief, so God finally allowed the Temple to be destroyed in 70 A.D., the nation dispersed and the land emptied. But God promised to bring them back in His own time, and the Old Testament repeatedly declares that He will still deal with His national people Israel. The program now includes 'for the Jew first, and also to the Greek,' and in that salvation the righteousness of God is revealed.
